Bitumen 50/70 & 70/100
Bitumen is the oldest mineral oil product. It is a very viscous, non-volatile, dark-colored mixture of millions of different organic compounds which is obtained as a residue from the crude oil processing.
The storage and processing temperature of bitumen strongly depends on the manufacturing process and on the penetration value or softening point. Theoretically, bitumen should not be heated to a temperature above 200° C, otherwise, thermal damage will occur, especially in the case of polymer-modified bitumen. In addition, bitumen must not be processed at temperatures below 150° C, otherwise problems may arise, especially in the subsequent compression of the mixture.
